The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program is Ambassadorial Scholarships. Since 1947 nearly 37,000 men and women from 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. Today it is the world's largest privately funded international scholarships program. More than 1,000 scholarships were awarded for study in 2003-04. Through grants totaling approximately US$428 million, recipients from some 70 countries studied in more than 70 nations.

Chevening Human Rights Scholarships
Funded by FCO. We manage this initiative, which was launched by Prime Minister Tony Blair when he visited China in 1998. Since the first group of six scholars who studied in the UK from January to March 1999, ten Chinese scholars have won scholarships to attend three month training courses at the Human Rights Law Centre of University of Nottingham, September to December every year. The course offers a wide range of Human Rights options, including the International Human Rights Law, Human Rights in Practice and English Civil Liberties Law. There have been 46 awards to date.
OSI/FCO Chevening/University of Essex Scholarships in Human Rights
These scholarships aim to provide opportunities for independent postgraduate study in the United Kingdom for students who are engaged in or intending to pursue postgraduate work in their own country and who have demonstrated both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers, and opinion-formers in their own country. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarships lead to the award of a master's degree.
The British Council
Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowships Plan
Open to Commonwealth citizens and British protected persons, permanently resident in any Commonwealth country other than the United Kingdom. Almost all awards are for taught postgraduate courses or doctoral study. Undergraduate awards are, however, available for residents of the Falkland islands, Maldives, Seychelles and St Helena.

Offers a unique opportunity for students to gain direct, hands-on experience in the field of human rights. Amnesty International USA awards these scholarships to student activists for summer internships or other individually planned human rights projects. Ranging from $600 to $1,800, scholarships are used for travel, materials, and other expenses. Projects typically last from four weeks to four months.
